Life on Ju Street !

What would Marseille be without its Cours Julien? This neighborhood perched on the heights of the 6th arrondissement, located between La Plaine and just a few minutes from the Old Port.

It's considered the neighborhood of Marseilles artists, rebels and bobos. Indeed, this neighborhood is a melodic blend of rock and reggae sounds, and the tenderness of calm. Here, shopkeepers and residents impose a cool, free-spirited lifestyle. Join us for a stroll through Marseille's arty neighborhood.

AN ALTERNATIVE STROLL IN THE HEART OF MARSEILLE

Open your eyes wide, there's something to see in every nook and cranny of this neighborhood! We start our stroll with the famous Cours Ju staircase. Here you'll find the Association l'Antre de Monde art gallery. As its name suggests, this staircase symbolizes the entrance to a world apart, that of Cours Ju, steeped in an alternative culture. You'll love strolling between the graffiti-colored walls, the cobblestone streets leading to the little restaurants, the neighborhood bars, the vintage and rock shops, the tattoo parlors, the organic market on Wednesdays, the playground for the little ones… You can do it all at Cours Ju, there's something for everyone! It's a great place to live, a lively place where Marseillais can express their art and their way of life in the heart of the city!

If you like street culture? Forget Miami, come to Cours Ju! It's the neighborhood's strong point and what gives it its identity. In June 2018, it was the Conseil Départemental who took the initiative of financing the embellishment of 200 facades by graffiti artists from the Massilia Graffiti collective. Creative initiatives such as the M.U.R by the Juxtapoz association, or the Marseille Street Art Show festival are set up to showcase the city's street culture.
