Giant Hollywood-style letters… in Marseille !
To promote the Marseille series, the city itself is adorned with its finest letters, Hollywood-style.
To mark the release of the Marseille series episodes, starring Gérard Depardieu and Benoît Magimel, Netflix wanted to make a big statement. A larger-than-life promotion: the capital letters, standing at 13.70 meters tall, will be aligned over a length of 100 meters. The imposing Hollywood-inspired calligraphy aims to showcase the dynamism of the former European Capital of Culture.
At the launch of the series on May 5th, only the letter "M" was erected on the heights of the Massif de l'Étoile, near the Grand Littoral shopping center. Netflix intended to spell out the whole word, but ran out of time. The other eight vowels and consonants will arrive and are expected to stay for a minimum of two months.
While Netflix set the bar high for promotional purposes with its made-in-France series, the reviews and opinions about the series tend to lean towards the negative side.
