While Marseille offers its share of beautiful beaches, the other beaches along the coast have nothing to be ashamed of.

Here is a small selection of the most beautiful beaches near Marseille that will leave you in awe.

Plage du Four à Chaux, Sausset-les-Pins

This small beach is highly appreciated because, in addition to its turquoise water, it is secluded from the road by pine trees. You can access this small pebble beach via a staircase. However, please note that it can be very crowded during the summer months !

Plage du Four à Chaux is located to the west of the seaside resort.

Calanque de Figuerolles, La Ciotat

The calanque of Figuerolles will transport you in just a few minutes. You can access it via a staircase of 90 steps that will lead you directly to a small cove. Its turquoise sea alongside the cliffs, will enchant you. This idyllic setting is also a perfect diving spot to observe the underwater world !

Calanque de Figuerolles is located a 5-minute walk from the Figuerolles parking lot.

Accessible via a trail that starts from the port of La Madrague, this beach is less crowded than Plage du Port and much more pleasant. The turquoise water and pebbles, surrounded by greenery, create a heavenly and peaceful setting.

Plage de la Couronne, Martigues

The village of Ensuès-la-Redonne is one of the most typical in the region. It offers a small harbor and a pebble beach. The pebble beach provides clear and clean water. The path to access it starts from the parking lot at the Ensuès harbor and is quite easy to reach.

Plage du Port, Carry le Rouet

The Plage du Port, also known as Plage Fernandel is located near the harbor, following the sentier du Lézard (Lizard Trail) that allows you to discover the fauna and flora of the Côte Bleue. This beach was not always public. Fernandel had a villa built above the beach and accessed this small private beach through a staircase. Today, it belongs to the city, and its turquoise water allows snorkeling enthusiasts to explore the underwater world of the Côte Bleue.

Located at the foot of Cap Canaille, this pebble beach is not easily accessible, but it's worth it. With a magnificent landscape, a wild and less crowded beach, and clear, clean water… The Plage de l'Arène is not monitored, and the presence of rocks in the water can make swimming a bit challenging. However, with a mask and snorkel, you will forget about these small details while admiring the beauty of the underwater world.
