The Dome : A Must-Visit concert hall

Launched in 1994, this concert hall ranks among the largest performance venues in the South of France with a flexible capacity of up to 8,500 spectators. Located in the Saint-Just district, in the 4th arrondissement of Marseille, it is a key venue on the Marseille scene.

Its dimensions make it a quite visible and particularly recognizable venue. The dome's shape was designed by architect Denis Sloan to resemble the hull of an overturned boat, with an arc nearly 27 meters high. Did you know that it was actually constructed by the shipyard in Saint-Malo? Additionally, the concert hall of Le Dôme is located right next to the General Council, very recognizable by its all-blue and glass structure.

Millions of spectators have walked the floors of Le Dôme to applaud their favorite artists or discover new ones. Between its inauguration and 2004, Le Dôme counted nearly 6 million spectators. Thus, more than 300,000 spectators attend events there every year.

Many international and national artists have performed on Le Dôme's stage: Beyoncé, Oasis, Céline Dion, James Blunt, Rihanna, France Gall, Florent Pagny, David Guetta, as well as the Marseille-based group IAM and Les Enfoirés, to name a few!

But Le Dôme also hosts comedians like Gad Elmaleh, Franck Dubosc, and Florence Foresti.

It has even served as a venue for political rallies and has hosted numerous children's shows like Disney on Ice.

In short, as you may have understood, Le Dôme is a gathering place that appeals to all audiences.

And for your convenience, two refreshment stands are open during each performance so you can dine before, during, and after the shows.

Access to Le Dôme's concert hall is available for people with reduced mobility: wheelchair users, individuals declared 80% or more disabled with a disability card, and pregnant women who have difficulty standing. To facilitate access to the hall, an adapted entrance is available to the right of the ticket office, at Esplanade Saint-Just.

The city of Marseille has decided to give it a little refresh, and renovation work began in 2017 and is expected to be completed by 2020, thus restoring all its splendor to its uniquely designed architecture, including its roof, which is gradually starting to rust. After all, Le Dôme is set to become part of Marseille's history.
