Hiking in the heart of the scrubland in the Étoile massif.

If you're on vacation in Marseille, why not go hiking in the Château Gombert area? Hiking in the Étoile massif will offer you a panorama of Marseille and the Frioul Islands. The scrubland will carry you throughout the walk in the visual and fragrant atmosphere of Provence.
A hiking trail with a view of the Frioul Islands
To start, make sure you have good shoes and don't forget your water bottle. At the source of Ouides, after the pass of the same name, you can find water, but it's better to bring some along as parts of the trail are very steep and the low vegetation doesn't provide much shade from the sun. We strongly advise wearing hiking shoes and using poles as there are many rocky sections. Let's begin this hike with the Palama Path. As you continue on the trail, you'll climb up to a magnificent view of the Frioul Islands and Marseille.
To reach the Col des Ouides, the road descends quite steeply, so be careful. The paths are marked, so you shouldn't have trouble finding your way through the scrubland. At the Col, you can continue towards Pilon du Roi. Finally, the path will lead you back to your starting point 😉
