A PANORAMIC VIEW
True symbol of the Phocaean City, the Basilique Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde will give you a 360° panorama of the whole of Marseille. Enough to even plan your walk itinerary with a finger. The interior of the Basilica is also worth a look! You'll be impressed by the numerous paintings and interior decorations. Once the visit is over, head down to the Vallon des Auffes, a guaranteed small-Provencal-harbor atmosphere, perfect for recharging your batteries. If the view from the Bonne Mère wasn't enough for you, then lose your gaze on the horizon through the Porte de l'Orient.
ROUTE FROM NOTRE DAME DE LA GARDE TO MANOSQUE
Then follow the coast passing through the coves of Maldormé and Fausse Monnaie. You can take a break at the tide gauge. You can then educate your walking companion that the "tide gauge was set up in 1885 in the Calvo cove on the Kennedy Corniche. It was used to measure sea level 0 and therefore, it was used to determine the reference level of all nautical and topographic charts". QED. Once at Malmousque, why not lay your towel on the rocks to enjoy the view of the Frioul Islands. Don't cool your muscles too much, though. Soak in the view, take a deep breath of the sea air, and then launch yourself into the assault of the final stretch, the one that will bring you back to the Basilica.
