We love getting lost in the maze of its streets with names as evocative as "Traverse de la Fausse Monnaie" or "Rue va à la Calanque." They are all just as small and winding and all seem in one way or another to lead to a small cove or a small fishing port.

The neighborhood is so quiet that it has its Legion Etrangere rest center. As well as the Military Baths, a seaside resort reserved for the military and their families. Throughout the Malmousque coastline, hidden gems abound.

Whether it's the view of the magnificent Endoume archipelago, the Degaby island or on the tasting side with two of Marseille's most prestigious restaurants to discover local specialties. The water is very clear, far from the "bowls" that can be found at Les Catalans, Pointe Rouge or Le Prophète, especially considering that it's just a stone's throw from downtown. The area is widely frequented by regulars. It is not uncommon for the most avid to claim a piece of rock that they sometimes even arrange to be able to set up umbrellas and fishing rods. Going for a swim at Malmousque is not only the assurance of a good day at the sea but also a dive into the picturesque Marseille of yesteryear.

Called so because it is located below the restaurant of the same name, also one of the most famous in Marseille, the Petit Nice is a meeting place for regulars who frequent the place all year round. Yes, people even swim in winter at Petit Nice, let's be clear about that. In high season, everyone looks for their piece of rock to lay their towel on. The lack of space encourages a certain proximity that is never unbearable due to the rugged relief of the rocks. While access to the sea is not difficult, it is not advisable for children and the elderly. The rocks can be very slippery and sharp.

On the Malmousque peninsula, next to the right of Petit Nice, there is a sheltered cove with a small pebble beach accessible by stairs. During the summer period, laying your towel in this small cove is quite an achievement. The beach of Fausse Monnaie located next to the small port of the same name is a tiny cove adorned with a few rocks. A good alternative if space around is running out.
