The Port-Pin calanque

port-pin

The Port Pin calanque is discovered amidst the pine trees in a magnificent setting. It is a densely wooded calanque with turquoise blue waters. Located in the Calanques National Park, it belongs to Marseille. You can access it through a breathtaking hiking trail.

How to access the calanque of Port-Pin?

First of all, it's very easy to reach: we recommend parking at the peninsula parking lot in Cassis, which, besides being close to the start of the trail, is also near bars and restaurants perfect for dining after your hike.

In just a 20-minute walk, you can access this little piece of paradise. To get there, you'll need to start from the neighboring calanque of Port-Miou and follow the customs officers' path passing through the former quarry of Port-Miou. The path is easy, without difficulties. However, be careful because the descent to the beach is on pebbles that the repeated passage of visitors has made very slippery. So it would be wise to swap your flip-flops for sneakers.

As you reach the end of the trail, the pine trees gradually give way to splendid turquoise waters.

Port-Pin, a family-friendly calanque

Unlike other calanques, Port Pin is not very steep and very wooded, which brings freshness, very appreciated in summer, and protects it from the wind. It owes its name to the Aleppo pines covering the cliffs on both sides.

Its sandy and pebbled beach is a real invitation to swimming and diving. Although it is quite narrow with its 40 meters width, it is also not very steep, which will delight families with children. However, be vigilant as this beach is not supervised.

You can also get there by sea by renting, for example, a canoe or kayak in Cassis.

Despite the many visitors it receives each year, Port-Pin has managed to preserve its wild side. It is one of the most beautiful calanques in Marseille and one of the easiest to access.
