Parc du 26e centenaire

The Parc du 26ème centenaire, located just a stone's throw from Castellane, was built in honor of Marseille's 2600 years of history. Its gardens evoke the cultures that intersect in the city and call for unity. Built on the site of a former train station, it is undoubtedly the most beautiful park in the Phocaean city.
As its name suggests, this park was built to celebrate the 2600 years of history of the city of Marseille. These 26 centuries are symbolized by 26 sequoia trees (out of 1500 trees). The Parc du 26ème centenaire was inaugurated on June 23, 2001, by Jean-Paul Gaudin.
A TOUCH OF GREEN IN THE CITY

It's the perfect place for a stroll in Marseille, but it's also a park for children. It stands out from other gardens in Marseille because it's located in the 8th arrondissement, where the old Prado train station used to be. This little piece of nature in the city is located near Place Castellane. You can still see some parts of the station: the roof, the train stop posts, or even the rails in the center of the park, which now serve as a basin with fountains. The landscaped park has a 3000 m² lake, while a belvedere allows you to admire the Bonne Mère.
In short, if you want to go for a run in Marseille, put on your best sneakers and go explore the paths of this park.
PARC DU 26ÈME CENTENAIRE - A UNIQUE PARK IN MARSEILLE

This 10-hectare patch of nature offers you, as you stroll along, four thematic gardens (Oriental, African, Asian, and Provençal), as well as a "Tree of Hope," expressing Marseille's cultural diversity.
The Tree of Hope symbolizes humanity and fraternity. Before the park opened, Marseille residents had the opportunity to request that their names appear at the base of the tree. In total, ten hectares of gardens in the heart of a city center that sorely lacks them. The park's composition is very contemporary while attempting to establish a connection with Marseille's history.
