The foreign legion museum : A dive into history
In a building of 1,200 m², discover the history of a unique military corps in the world, envied by many countries. The collection consists of memorabilia from the founders of the Legion, paintings, weapons, photos, various everyday objects, as well as portraits. This sanctuary of the past emerged more than 40 years ago, in April 1966. It was restructured in 2003 before being expanded in 2013 to become what we visit today.
The exhibitions take place at three sites: the Foreign Legion Museum in Aubagne, the Uniform Museum in Puyloubier, and the Historical Documentation Center in Aubagne. Temporary exhibitions are also organized occasionally. The museum is managed daily by a volunteer association comprising the Society of Friends of the Foreign Legion Museum (SAMLE).
