THE BEACHES OF PORQUEROLLES

Porquerolles Island is the largest of the Hyères islands, located not far from the Giens Peninsula in the Port Cros National Park. Its elongated crescent shape brings to mind those tropical paradise islands, yet we are indeed in the south of France. It is the most inhabited and visited island in the Golden Isles of the Gulf of Hyères and was declared a national park in 1971. It is 7 km long and 3 km wide. Access is possible by shuttle from Hyères les Palmiers or by boat. It is a magical place with multiple faces. Its paradisiacal beaches, picturesque village, splendid landscapes, vineyards… Porquerolles has everything to please you! To the south, there is a rugged coastline with steep cliffs where some coves are hidden. While to the north, the landscape resembles the Caribbean with its fine sandy beaches and turquoise waters. Porquerolles is heaven on earth for those who swear by dream beaches.
The different beaches of Porquerolles Island
Notre Dame Beach
This is undoubtedly the most beautiful beach in Porquerolles. Did you know that it was recently voted the most beautiful beach in Europe? Despite this fame, it remains less crowded than other beaches. Located about three kilometers from the port, it is accessible on foot in 45 minutes or by bike in 25 minutes.
Silver Beach
It is located about 1.5 kilometers from the village. You can get there by bike in 5 minutes. It has nothing to envy to Notre Dame Beach. It has toilets, a lifeguard station, and a restaurant. Its shallow waters make it the perfect place to take your children.
Courtade Beach
This is the most popular beach. Less than a kilometer from the village, it is easily accessible and is the largest on the island. Its white sand, turquoise sea, and the smell of eucalyptus floating in the air will make you feel like you're traveling. Numerous shaded areas make it ideal for families with children. However, be careful on windy days, as it is not sufficiently sheltered.
Langoustier Beach

Perfect for windy weather, they are sheltered from the wind and swell and offer you 2 completely different settings. To the north, the beach is made of fine sand and to the south of black sand. Langoustier Beach is 4 km from the village on one of the points of the island. To get there, it will take you 1 hour and 30 minutes if you are walking and about 40 minutes if you rent a bike.
Activities to do on Porquerolles Island
Many activities are available on the island, starting with mountain bike rental. It is indeed recommended to explore the island by bike with your children, friends, or loved ones. The setting is sumptuous, so it is the ideal solution to discover it in the most enjoyable way possible. Cars are not allowed on Porquerolles. Diving and boating are also on the agenda. You can also rent jet skis, paddleboards, or kayaks. In the center of the island, the Porquerolles National Mediterranean Botanical Conservatory has conducted a flora inventory with the help of scientists and botanists. Visits are possible for groups, upon request. The island is crisscrossed by 100 kilometers of paths of all kinds. These tracks and trails follow the old paths built between the 16th and 19th centuries. In the end, the "pearl" of the Hyères islands promises you a day you won't soon forget.
