RTM: MARSEILLE TRANSPORT AUTHORITY

The RTM is the intra-city transport network of Marseille. It brings together bus, tramway, and metro transport services.

Regarding buses in Marseille, the RTM has no less than 80 lines and 1,238 stops. By downloading the RTM app, you'll have real-time information on the arrival time of the selected bus at the desired location. Obviously, everything is not perfect, and there are still some errors with sometimes buses announced and then canceled without the application notifying you. However, these errors are, honestly, quite rare.

The Tourist Office sells City Passes ranging from €24 to €39 (depending on the number of hours chosen) which give you access to numerous tourist services such as free access to museums, the little train, but also to all public transport (except maritime shuttles).

RTM RATES

The ticket (bus – metro – tramway) purchased at the terminal costs €1.70 for the first purchase. It is then rechargeable (don't throw it away!!!), and the price decreases to €1.60. This ticket allows you to benefit from one hour of connection (round trip included) on the entire RTM network. Note, however, that you are limited to one metro access. The same ticket will cost you much more on a bus, €2, so don't hesitate to get it at a terminal, even if it means taking a few more steps. Terminals are located inside the metros or at tram stops.

On vacation for several days? Other packages are offered, more economical and/or practical:

2-trip card for €3.40 (first purchase, then €3)

10-trip card for €15 (first purchase, then €13.40)

Group card for 4 people for €4.80

XL 24h Pass for €5.20 or XL 72h Pass for €10.80 (they allow unlimited travel on the entire network (except maritime shuttles), but also on the trans-metropolitan network which allows you to reach neighboring cities like Sausset-les-Pins, Allauch, or Gémenos.

CAR TREIZE

36 lines make up the Car Treize network, which serves the major demographic centers of the Bouches-du-Rhône. From Marseille to Aix-en-Provence, from Arles to Avignon, or from La Ciotat to Aubagne, you'll find a bus line that will allow you to travel at a low cost.

Regarding fares, it all depends on your journey, the price will vary according to the distance traveled. Except for Senior tickets (over 65 years old) and 24 Youth Passes (under 26 years old), which both benefit from a single fare for a one-way trip: €1.50 for seniors and €2 for youth.

Single tickets and preferential price tickets can be purchased at Ticketreize points of sale or on board the buses.

A booklet of 6 trips, priced according to the journey, is also on sale and allows for 6 identical trips on a Car Treize line for 1 year. These booklets are only available at Ticketreize points of sale.

AIRPORT SHUTTLE

To get to the airport or come to Marseille from the airport, you have two options. You can turn to Car Treize, with a longer journey but at a very low cost. Or you can use the Airport Shuttle, a comfortable Marseille bus.

This express transport allows you to reach the AMP in 25 minutes. Departure is from Marseille Saint-Charles station accessible by metro lines 1 and 2. Departure every 15 minutes, 7 days a week, from 04:50 to 00:10 from the airport, and from 04:10 to 23:30 from Marseille. The one-way ticket costs €8.30, €13.40 for a round trip. You also have the option of buying combined tickets with the shuttle and access to RTM transport for €9.20, for a round trip count €14.70

at the ticket office of Saint Charles station, open from 05:30 to 21:30

Note that it is also possible to purchase your transport ticket on board the shuttle.
